The Motion of No Confidence against Mayor Wilson Mamae has gone through successfully.

Mover of the Motion and Councillor for Vavaya Ward Billy Abae tabled the motion before the First Quarter Meeting of the Full Council.

In his opening statement, Cr. Abae said that he is obliged by the people of Honiara City and the responsibilities rendered upon him by his people of Vavaya Ward to move the motion on the floor of HCC Chamber.

Cr. Abae moved the motion on the grounds of weak leadership and misconduct and misappropriation of HCC properties and budget for 2020 financial year and the first quarter of this year 2021.

After much debate on the motion, a secret ballot voting was conducted in the HCC Chambers.

The results are 8 in favor of the motion with 4 against.

The Minister of Home Affairs will be informed of the results and will be confirming a date for the nomination of candidates for Mayor and election.
