On behalf of mothers, children, the sick, elderly, those who rely on daily livelihood, who don’t have enough gas to last the next 36 hours to cook, and who have not stocked up, can I appeal to the Public Solicitor, to the Leader of Opposition, to the Leader of the Independent Group, and to the Bar Association of Solomom Islands to seek an urgent judicial review of the Lockdown declared in response to the riots, in light of the short notice, its length, and whether it is justifiable in the circumstances.
The wellbeing of people cannot be put at risk at such short notice. Children are going to go hungry, families are going to go hungry because they have not been given sufficient notice. The conditions under which the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals to move to find food and care for their sick and loved ones cannot be treated with the disdain and callousness at the shortness of the notice.
Please I appeal to you on behalf of the mothers children, and families to seek an urgent appeal to review these orders tonight so that people do not go hungry over the next 36 hours.
