PM welcomes new U.S ambassador to Solomon Islands

PRIME Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, MP has welcomed the new U.S Ambassador to the Solomon Islands Her Excellency Erin Mckee to the country recently.

“Welcome to the happy isles,” he stated.

This was during a courtesy visit made by Ambassador Mckee to the Office of the Prime Minister last week.

In meeting Prime Minister Sogavare, the Ambassador expressed her delight to meet with Hon. Sogavare.

Both leaders acknowledged the long-standing relationship that both countries have shared over the years.

H.E Mckee reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to work in partnership with the Solomon Islands Government to tackle the challenges in development and to help the country unlock its development potentials.

In response, Prime Minister Sogavare also expressed his gratitude for the visit and acknowledged U.S as a  long time friend of the Solomon Islands whose partnership goes a long way back.

The two countries established diplomatic relations following Solomon Islands’ independence from the United Kingdom in 1978.
