Police appeal in search for missing person

A fresh appeal was issued today for help tracing a missing person after search attempts by police unsuccessful.

Police says the man was missing since 30 November 2019 when the boat he was travelling in capsized.

The boat was travelling from the Abalolo beach to go to a ship who anchored off-shore at Malou Bay in South Malaita when a big wave capsized it.

“There were two others with the man when the boat capsized. These two men were lucky to be survived,” Operation Manager for Police in Malaita Province, Inspector Charles Edward Koto says.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) appeals to seafarers and coastal people of South Malaita, other parts of Malaita, Makira-Ulawa Province, Central Islands, Guadalcanal and Isabel islands to look out for the missing person at sea.
