Police arrests juvenile for stealing in Central Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi in Central Province have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male person (juvenile) for stealing a pair of jean trousers from a second hand clothing shop on 9 March 2021.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Inspector Walter Manefakale says, “The complainant operated a second hand clothing shop but was away feeding her pig behind her house when the suspect took the pair of jeans and went away without paying for it.”

“When the complainant returned to the shop she noticed that the jean trousers was missing, and was told by her neighbours the suspect was seen at the shop just a few minutes before.”

“The matter was reported to police at Tulagi and they quickly responded and recovered the stolen jean trousers and arrested the suspect and placed in the cell,” says PPC Manefakale 

He was charged with simple larceny contrary to section 261(1) of the Penal Code.

The suspect was charged for simple Larceny contrary to section 261(1) of the Penal Code and was bailed to appear before the Tulagi Magistrates’ court on 12 March 2021.
