The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province  have called for calm  celebrations to mark the 37th  anniversary of the Province’s 2nd Appointed Day which will be held on 7 December 2020 at Noro.

It is anticipated that guests from both National and Provincial Governments will attend the celebrations. Officers of the RSIPF and the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) will mount a parade and the RSIPF Brass Band will be performing during the celebrations.

“Police will provide high visibility presence during the celebrations at Noro as well as far as Munda Township to ensure peace and freedom is maintained during the one week Roviana Lagoon Festival which will also be launched in the evening of 7 December 2020,” says Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu.

“I call on the public at Munda and surrounding communities to remain calm and celebrate the event in a peaceful manner as school children, elderly people and important guests will be attending the Festival,” says PPC Lenialu.

He adds, “Police will ensure there is zero tolerance should any one break the law. But we will work together with the organizing committee and the community to ensure guests and the local people will enjoy the 2nd Appointed Day anniversary celebrations as well as the Roviana Lagoon Festival.
