Police search for a missing female adult at sea in Temotu Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Lata in Temotu Province have been searching for an adult female person missing in sea between Nukapu and Peleni in Temotu Province on 30 December 2021.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations Ms Everlyn Thugea says, “The adult female from Nukapu village set out on a dugout canoe behind her husband to Pileni”

AC Thugea says, “The husband has arrived safely at Pileni but her wife did not arrive as expected. She left Nukapu in the afternoon on 30 December 2021.”

Police Operation Manager at Lata was left to Reef Islands on 31 December 2021 to assist Manuopo Police to search for the missing person.

On 1 January 2022, Police did a search again around waters of the Reef Islands until late evening but no sign of the boat. Search goes as far as areas of Nukapu Island, Peleni, Makalumu and Reef Islands. 

Police check out the nearby islands but no sign. Police search teams are following the North Direction of Peleni going towards Duff Islands as part of the search.
