The Supervising Provincial Police Commander for Rennell and Bellona Province, Staff Sergeant Eddie Peseika calls on all drivers and vehicle owners on Rennell Island to renew their driver’s and vehicle licences at the Tigoa Police Station as from today until Friday 11 September 2020.

“RSIPF in Rennell and Bellona Province has organised officers from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) in the Ministry of Finance and Treasury to be at Tigoa to check all vehicles and test all drivers and renew their licenses accordingly,” says Supervising PPC Staff Sergeant Peseika.

He adds, “The team of officers from MID and IRD have been at Tigoa since yesterday (8 September 2020) to test the drivers and inspect the vehicles before renewing the driver’s licenses and vehicle licenses. MID officers have also used the opportunity to show my officers here what to look for that will disqualify a vehicle to be on the road.”

“I call on all drivers and vehicle owners on Rennell to come to Tigoa to renew their driver’s licenses and have their vehicles checked before their vehicle licenses are renewed. On the issue of the Third Party Insurance for vehicles, owners will pay the IRD officers and they will sort out the insurance when they get back to Honiara. The necessary documentation will then be sent back to the vehicle owners on Rennell.”

“As far as I can remember, this would be the fast time that drivers and vehicle owners in the Rennell and Bellona Province have been given this opportunity to renew their driver’s and vehicle licenses in the province. It is expected that the same will be done for vehicles on Bellona after Rennell,” says Supervising PPC Staff Sergeant Peseika.
