The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) women’s football team, the Royals, played out an exciting 0-0 draw against Koloale FC at Lawson Tama stadium on Saturday 19 October 2020.

It was the first time this season a women’s league game has been played at the “home of football”. Both teams stepped up to the occasion to play out a thrilling game to the delight of the supporters who turned out to support the women’s league.

The draw means the Royals remain undefeated and in first place with a 3 point lead.

Speaking about the match Captain and Defender Rose Gwali says, “It was a very good experience for us as a team to play at Lawson Tama. We started the game slowly but managed to stay organised and gain control. I am very happy with the team’s performance, everyone gave their best on the day and most importantly we worked together as a team.”

RSIPF Officer and Midfielder Francina Mautai adds, “Firstly it was a privilege to play on such a good pitch like Lawson Tama. Even though it was a hot day, we kept fighting until the final whistle. We had a very good team spirit with many hands, one mind.”

“It was such a privilege to be part of the first women’s league game at Lawson Tama this season. I’m very proud of the team, we worked together and played for each other,” says SIPDP Advisor and Midfielder Charmaine Li.
