Second confirmed COVID-19 case for SI

Solomon Islands today has its’ second confirmed case of the the corona virus. The Honourable Prime Minister Sogavare, confirmed this in a special nationwide address this afternoon in Honiara.
On 10th October 2020, a total of 92 have been tested and ONLY one seemed having the corona virus – a positive result.

The person tested positive is a Philippine student. The student repatriated in the recent flight from Philippines and seated in closed proximity to the one which recently tested positive – our first COVID case.

The Prime minister assured the country that there will be no lock down because the case is containable and the student has been self isolated. However, further repatriation flights from the Philippines might be delayed.

The announcement and arrival of the second positive COVID-19 case cast a lot of fears and has been the talk of the town. Social media has been flooded with so many commentaries about the capacity to contain it and safety of the front liners.

Good news is that the situation is under complete control and our Prime Minister reminded everyone to stay calm and not panic as this has low if not NO chance of spreading to our communities.
